The Purple & White is back in the NBA Finals, and the Red & Gold will be wearing purple for the first time in their history.
The Spurs, however, will wear purple for their first regular season game since 1995, when they were known as the Pistons.
Coach Darnell Mayberry said the team is taking the opportunity to showcase their colors to the rest of the league.
“We’re really excited about this,” Mayberry told ESPN.
“I think everybody is excited about it.
This is something that’s been a goal of ours for a long time, but the timing was right, and now we have a chance to make it official.”
The Spurs won a title in 2015 and made the Finals the following year.
They are also coming off the worst season of their careers, which ended with a 7-59 record.
